Aromatherapy Unmasked

rootedinmystrength

My dear reader, hello. It's the third week of No Misinformation November already and this is the post I've been most looking forward to. Buckle up for a healthy dose of nerd! Let's unmask what aromatherapy is and how it works.

As a student of Aromahead Institute I have learned a lot. And of course it's all fascinating and marvelous. We'll start with the basics. And I mean the building blocks of smell, molecules. We all know everything is made of tiny bits that build into larger bits that eventually make up the world around us. Smells are pretty similar. Each smell is unique because it is uniquely designed, actually your nose has a special spot for each scent molecule to fit into. As the smell travels it goes into the brain where it directly affects the limbic system. The limbic system houses emotions, memories, and instincts. That's right, we can affect how we feel with the simple action of smelling! And that's the most basic form of aromatherapy, choosing an oil or several oils for emotional support. But we can take it even further.

Essential oils are incredible tools to support emotional needs and physical needs. Yup! I support my physical pain every single day with just 4 oils. I like to use a couple oils that have a warming action, an oil that can reduce inflammation, and an oil that will feel nice on the skin. The goal is to support my body with what I know these oils can do. Notice I'm not giving you my formula. I prefer to make personalized blends for safety. What works for me might not work for you. And that's what sets me apart from the bottles in the grocery store, I understand the chemistry and actions of my oils and can use that knowledge to provide a beautiful, effective blend just for you.

Let's say you've been feeling a bit under the weather. A little achy, a bit stuffy. You know the drill. After a quick talk about your preferences and going over some safety considerations, I'll suggest one of two things. Either a lotion to use over areas where your lymph nodes live full of oils to support them; or an inhaler that can help manage feeling stuffed and can encourage a bit of an immune boost. An inhaler is a cotton wick inside a tube with a hole on the end, not an aerosol you can get from a pharmacy. Driving the decisions are your goals, what you want to support, and what you feel will be most convenient.

My goal is to support my clients by creating personalized blends that can manage different needs. Aromatherapy is a powerful tool that, when used correctly, can do just that. With oils you can affect your mood, support memory, encourage the immune system, and allow the body to do what it does best- take care of you. Ready to learn more? Let's Connect and see how you can indulge in self care, naturally.

I hope you have a fabulous, safe holiday.

Peace to you,
