With brand new growth sprouting from soft soil come new challenges. The ground has been broken and fertilized for that lovely new growth to thrive in, which will invite other kinds of seed to try to take root.

Gardening is a wonderful hobby and lifestyle, but anyone can just throw flowers in some dirt and call it a day. Gardeners know there is so much more to keeping a healthy, thriving garden. One of the greatest threats to any garden is weeds. A weed is an insidious thing, often taking root long before it shows up in the top soil. Taking care of those weeds is a season-long labor of love, involving various tools- physical and emotional to properly deal with the tasks at hand.
Weeding is a trying task, it takes an absurd amount of patience and concentration to make sure the job is done properly. Any plant can keep growing if the root is still intact, and it is the job of the gardener to make sure the roots of any weeds are pulled up with the actual plant. First, you have to know what you're looking at. We wouldn't want to dig up any of that new growth we worked so hard for! You also need to have the right tools to combat any unforeseen obstacles. Shovels, shears, and a good strong grip never fail. Lastly, determination. Weeds can be a stubborn thing to fight, and they will come back, don't lose heart- you got this!
In my battles I have come across weeds I react to when I pull them out. A little protection like long sleeves and gloves don't hurt. I swear some of the weeds fight right back!
Pulling weeds is a lot like removing toxic people out of your life. Hard work and well worth the effort.
To get rid of toxic people, you dig deep in a different way. Often these are people you've grown to trust, love even. It's a different kind of work to pull their roots from your garden and keep their weeds from sprouting.
Don't lose heart.
You got this.
Peace to you,
