Reaping the Rest

rootedinmystrength

So much work has gone into this brand new growth. We have broken ground, removed obstacles, identified and managed pests. Now for the rest.

Literally. It's time to rest. Look at all we've accomplished! A large piece of gardening is maintaining healthy soil, farmers will give plots of land rest to avoid draining the soil of too many nutrients.

Similarly we need to make sure we don't drain ourselves. Maintaining boundaries, keeping sustainably stacked habits, and allowing space for more growth all will be helpful in keeping a flourishing garden.

Personally, I'm finding it difficult to allow myself space to actually rest. I struggle with needing to feel productive at all times. If I'm not reading about marketing strategies or any of the news articles that pop up on my phone all day long, I'm worrying myself into an anxious mess. Self care is a thing that sounds easy, but takes a surprising amount of work and discipline to keep up with.

Self care is so important to living a holistic lifestyle by forming habits supporting the body and self as a whole. Making small changes each day to build and protect overall wellbeing can go a long way toward feeling more balanced. Taking the time to slow down and unplug from all the tension, even if it's just five minutes can make an incredible difference.

I have three go-to choices to support my self care needs.

I like to start and end my day with a yoga sequence to set the tone for my day and stack habits. Yoga has been one of the few things that has consistently helped my mobility and rebuild a connection between my mind and my body. Once I've finished a sequence, I can go right into the next step.

This may sound odd, but maintaining a skin care routine serves as a reminder to love my body. As I go through my routine, I remind myself that I can love my body where it is now and take a moment to appreciate how much stronger I've become since I started training.

Lastly, I like to pause when I'm feeling cornered in the chaos and enjoy tea. To slow down, I try to guess the different flavors and focus on the warmth that radiates from drinking tea.

Rest is an essential element to living a holistic, balanced life. You deserve to find self care that works for you and supports your rest.

Peace to you,
