There really is nothing worse than giving in to thoughts of self hatred. This is a hole that is too easy to fall into and fairly difficult to climb out of- that is without support.

Let's start at the beginning, what can cause self hatred? If I've said it once, I'm bound to say it a million more times, comparison is the enemy of joy. When you compare your growth to someone else's life, it's all too easy to think you're behind some imaginary milestone. It's too easy to think someone else may be living better than you are because of some hidden factor that you don't have.
The truth is we are all running our own race, and as unique individuals we're bound to have plenty of differences in the journey. Self hate is so toxic to us by turning the mind against itself, at times obsessing over toxic positivity and get better soon schemes.
The way away from self hate is paved in self compassion. Use positive self-talk and reframe negative self-talk to give yourself a break. How might you go about this reframing?
Say I made a mistake making pancakes. To be honest with you, dear reader, this is a common thing. Pancakes seem to be my kitchen nemesis. It's an early morning, lil bear is running around in happy mayhem, and I have the heat on too high. Pancakes get burned and breakfast is delayed. No big deal, right? Tell that to my anxious brain! With self hate in the mix, we have a recipe for disaster. Enter compassionate reframing! I can take a step back and say to myself "Self, we know this is a challenge for you and we did our best. Yes, the breakfast got burned, but that means a lesson learned." Behold! Self compassion in action. A great tool for any holistic lifestyle, as self compassion not only breaks up the hate- it also teaches the brain to take it easy once in a while.
When we add aromatherapy to this exercise, we can make the change that much easier to make. Peppermint (Mentha x piperita) can be a great tool for supporting self confidence and creativity. Combine that with qualities that refresh the senses and we've got ourselves a new best friend!
Of course, with new change we may want a direct course of action to make the change last. That's where my Metanoia Initiative can help. Members receive a custom program to explore their goals, challenge their struggle points, and build strong habits to support a holistic lifestyle.
Don't forget you are a wonderfully unique person. It's okay to give yourself a break.
Have a marvelous day, dear reader.
Blessings,
Willow R.
