Hello dear reader! I feel like there has been a little misunderstanding about what I do as an aromatherapist, and maybe a little discomfort when I add "in training." So let's dive into what I do, how I'm training, and what I value as an aromatherapist.

I have written an earlier blog, "Aromatherapy, What's that?" that does go more in depth than I will in this post, feel free to read that when you're done here. In short, aromatherapy is a holistic approach to the things that bother us; cold symptoms, feelings of anxiety, difficulty sleeping all can be aided with aromatherapy. I know the word holistic is thrown around a lot on social media, all it means is a total approach, taking a step back and looking at every factor that might contribute to whatever it is you want to improve.

An aromatherapist is someone who looks at the bigger picture and uses natural tools like essential oils to meet your goals. But what about an aromatherapist in training? How would you even train to be an aromatherapist? I study under the Aromahead Institute where I have learned the chemistry of essential oils, how these oils can interact with drugs, which blends would be most effective in certain scenarios, safety precautions for people with certain conditions, and so much more, I even have to understand anatomy and physiology. Once I've gone through my courses, I have to take and pass two tests to earn my certificate. Through this journey, I've learned there's a lot of misinformation floating around online and it really bothers me. The biggest piece of misinformation being the misuse of essential oils and how I used to encourage it.
I've noticed how common it is to use essential oils internally, the biggest argument being that these oils are all natural so they aren't going to hurt you if you eat them. And I used to encourage internal use. Now I understand that while essential oils are natural, they are made from plants, they are powerful tools that need to be used correctly. If taken internally, there is a chance essential oils can interfere with how other medications work in the body. I will never again recommend the internal use of essential oils.
The list of values I hold as an aromatherapist is quite long. First and foremost I value total transparency and honesty. You deserve to know exactly what you are using on your body and how it works, after truly understanding how powerful these tools are it just doesn't sit right with me when I see half truths and misinformation spread around. Next I value providing high quality blends. I work hard to ensure each and every blend I make and sell is high quality at every level. I only use essential oils that I trust, I read for hours about other ingredients I use in my blends like witch hazel and Himalayan salt, I personally test every blend to ensure it does the job it's intended for and make any necessary adjustments, the point here is I go the extra 10 miles to make sure my customers get the best of the best. You deserve to know what you're using on your body is just that, the best of the best.

I also deeply value safety. I cannot stress just how concentrated essential oils are, and there are certain oils that can give less than ideal results if you don't know what you're doing. The Aromahead Institute provides GC/MS reports and data reports of their oils, I refer back to these tools constantly when I'm making blends for my inventory. I spend hours double and triple checking how every piece of the puzzle is going to play with all of the other pieces. You deserve blends that are high quality and safe to use. Really, all of my values boil down to what you deserve. You deserve to know exactly what you're using, that these blends are high quality, safe, and effective. And that is what you are getting when you use my blends.
You can see my blends for yourself here. I am so thrilled to say I have a new blend I will be launching on February 18th along with a fun, wearable item. You can see more updates about these new things on my Facebook page or if you subscribe to my email list.
Have a wonderful day, dear reader!
Pace to you,
